Marijuana Courses Being Offered At Universities

Marijuana isn’t only for smoking nowadays. You can actually learn about it in university courses in many forms, from the science of it to the business side of things. This is no publicity stunt. From small colleges to some for-profit universities to neighboring UC Davis, these course are real.

UC Davis School of Medicine chair of physiology and membrane biology stated in a press release, “The timing could not be better to give students the opportunity to have a profound understanding about the physiology and medical implications of cannabis use.” This isn’t the only way reputable universities are getting involved in the marijuana industry. LSU recently has established a relationship with a private company to grow and distribute marijuana in Louisiana.

The deal would make LSU eligible to make millions in revenue. But it’s not just about the money, the company itself will promote marijuana for medical conditions such as chronic pain, arthritis, and other diseases.

These are some of the classes you can expect to find:

  • A medical marijuana and cannabis certification course covering aspects of medical marijuana science and healthcare applications. (University of Vermont)

  • A law course covering issues on legalization, states rights, and public health across the nation. (Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University)

  • A medical cannabis and chronic pain course on the science of medical marijuana and its common uses. (University of Washington)

As the beginning of a new era of marijuana continues to surprise on a daily basis, we can expect to see more ideas and innovation in the near future, especially here in California.
